The rapid charger and three standard charging points forces its power from solar panels
Every solar powered rapid charger which unfortunately could recharge an electric vehicle in theri forties minutes has been installed in Dorset.
The unit at Poole Civic Company is the first of its kind in the UK grow to be installed by a council as part of each government scheme.
It draws its own power from solar panels and is swifter than standard chargers which snap 8-12 hours.
Eighteen chargers items installed in Dorset following a £900, 000 Department for Transport grants.
During daylight hours, the rapid battery charger with three standard charging components is powered by a 135kWp solar energy panel installation on the roof of a nearby multi-storey car park.
Ian Potter, the council's cabinet member for transport, referred to: "We hope other organisations will observe our lead and install solar power systems on their buildings to generate carbon fully free electricity. "
Six of the large chargers are set to be in place in Poole, five in Bournemouth and seven in the rest of Dorset.
