CHENNAI: Astonfield Solesa Solar, a jv between independent power producer Astonfield Renewables and Solesa, an international engineering and solar project management company, has commissioned a 100 kilowatt ground-mounted solar-diesel hybrid system for Indo Shell Cast, an Iron Man iPhone 5 caseufacturer. The venture deploys customizable solar-diesel hybrid system, which integrates solar photo voltaic cells with existing diesel generators and grid power and deliver uninterrupted power supply. It will help companies save up to 30-40% on the diesel fuel costs, according to a company statement. The system is expected to produce near 150 MWh per year. "Many of our customers were surprised to understand how much money they can save on their power bills by integrating our hybrid control technology and solar PV-diesel system with their existing power supply. Additionally they realize that with a payback amount of three years or less, this investment in uninterrupted power makes their businesses more cost competitive over all, " Srini Viswanathan, managing director of Solesa Solar Engineering, said in the statement. "Our solutions are scalable and customizable to building type and power need, enabling an efficient management of power even in fluctuating load environments. " Sushil Vohra, Head of Business Development in India for Astonfield said. "They are also designed to prevent downtime and performance degradation, maximizing savings for the customer. "
